Huddersfield Giants have been hit by a big blow on the injury front as full-back Jake Mamo has been ruled out for the season.

The Australian has been in sensational form since joining the side from Newcastle Knights, scoring 12 tries in just nine games for the side before he picked up a foot injury.

He had been expected to be out for a maximum of six weeks but sadly that is not the case and he will now miss the rest of the season as the Giants battle for a place in the top eights.

They currently sit eighth two points above Catalan Dragons in ninth and coach Rick Stone told BBC Radio Leeds: "The initial scans were a bit clouded because of the swelling. It's a 16-20 week injury."
