Injury plagued Liverpool striker Danny Ings has taken another step back to the first team by scoring for the under-23's.

Ings has had a nightmare time with injuries whilst at Anfield and has not featured since undergoing knee surgery on his right knee back in October, having already missed a year for the club after surgery on his left knee.

The 25-year-old completed 45 minutes of the under-23s' win over Swansea in the Reds' opening PL2 fixture of the season, and capped his return with a volley to open the scoring in a 2-0 win.

Ings will now be hoping to step up his training with a view to being back in the first-team fold sooner rather than later.
