There is not only beauty in life, but also solidarity. And that L'Occitane understood it. For more than 30 years, the brand has forged close ties with women in Burkina Faso, and has even created the L'Occitane Foundation, which is particularly committed to women's entrepreneurship in 2006.
L'Occitane supports women who produce shea butter
Last July, L'Occitane, USAID, RONGEAD and the Global Shea Alliance (GSA) announced the signing of a public-private partnership to celebrate Women's Day, activity of women producers of shea butter, and to protect the shea park in Burkina Faso. A true star of cosmetics, shea leaves reinforce the elasticity of the skin, restoring luster to dull skin. Natural product cheap shea tree allows the creation of care homes for lips or hair, but also for pampering hands and nails. In short, it is a rich natural ingredient of 1000 and 1 virtues for our beauty. And it is therefore in the interest of the sector to continue ... without affecting biodiversity.
L'Occitane commits to Burkina Faso
Today, more than 16 million women live in the shea industry. The aim of public-private partnerships is to enable them to organize themselves into cooperatives and to facilitate their access to equipment and training so that they can better benefit from the sale of their products. Concretely, L'Occitane is committed to taking part in the construction of 10 warehouses, planting 45,000 new shea seeds in 6 rural communities in Burkina Faso, and training 8,500 women in business development, to the treatment of shea in respect of the environment, and to the management of the parks. But the history of friendship between L'Occitane and Burkina Faso is older. Since 1980, the brand has been involved in promoting the economic emancipation of Burkinabe women by buying processed shea butter but also by giving them access to the microcredit, literacy and socio-economic training programs. This commitment has benefited more than 10,000 Burkinabe women .
