“I often think of the things my grandmother and my mother have been telling me my whole life,” says Liv Tyler. “Remembering what your ‘mama said’ as a child and growing up is very important. I often try to think of things that I can say to my children in a way that they can hear me the same way I heard my mom.”
The comments come as part of Tyler’s collaboration with iconic American clothing brand, Gap, who have today announced the launch of the fantastic new film, ‘Mama Said’. Celebrating motherhood in support of Every Mother Counts, Tyler has co-directed and starred in the piece, with Paola Kudacki directing alongside her. The result is a film that brings together the joys and optimism of motherhood, giving a nod to the influence born out of love that mothers have on their children.
Also starring model Coco Rocha, actress Jurnee Smollett-Bell, model Candice Swanepoel and artist/photographer Ali Bird with wife Cass Bird, the film brings the high-profile mothers to life with their respective children, all of whom light up the screen. It’s an empowering and relatable piece, celebrating mothers who hardly get celebrated enough. You can check it out below:
