Liverpool scouted former trialist Perr Schuurs and he scored as his Fortuna Sittard side lost to Jong Ajax on Friday.

The 17-year-old centre-back had a trial with Liverpool back in May and is understood to have impressed Reds coaches enough for the club to have earmarked him as a future target.

Reports last week claimed Liverpool are strongly considering an offer for Schuurs, but so were Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

The Reds were not the only Premier League club to send scouts to Ajax's De Toekomst complex on Friday for the Dutch second tier clash.

Manchester City and Tottenham scouts were also in attendance, although there were many other interesting prospects in action for the home side.

However, Dortmund also sent a spy and they could provide the biggest threat to Liverpool sealing a deal for Schuurs.
