Noel Gallagher confesses that he was terribly nervous before his appearance at the 'We Are Manchester' benefit concert.

The former Oasis guitarist headlined the event on Saturday night (September 9th) at the Manchester Arena. This had been closed since the terrorist attack at an Ariana Grande concert in May. As Noel describes, however, he was terrified of the gig and was already afraid that his nerves would go wrong with him. "As it got closer and closer, I thought, 'I hope I can pull it off because it's an emotional thing,'" says the 50-year-old flapping his heart. This was reinforced by the fact that Manchester is his hometown.

In the BBC Radio 6's 'Music Breakfast Show', the star reveals that the performance of 'Don't Look Back In Anger' was one of the most emotional moments of his life: "It was the first time that I was nervous to step on stage because of what happened to the song after the bombing - it became a kind of hymn of resistance. " He describes this moment in awe: "How people gathered together in the minutes of silence while I saw it live on the news and was left pretty speechless ..." Music has a healing power: "If it's a minute's silence one thing that was so terrible that people are trapped in their own thoughts and silence, and then a girl breaks the silence and sings this song and everyone agrees and everyone is together at that moment - then music is real important."
