The pitch: Piper Chapman is beautiful, intelligent and comes from a wealthy family. She is about to marry the man she loves and start her cosmetics company with her best friend. But while this thirty-something well in every respect is about to embrace a life at the Desperate Housewives, his past catches up to take him straight ... behind bars! Ten years ago, Piper did carry dirty money and, if she has long stopped her illegal activities, she has just been reported. Piper Chapman will have to serve her sentence for a year in a Connecticut women's prison.
To watch if: you like series by turns funny and touching! Nothing to do with Oz or Prison Break, Orange is the new black does not try to show us prison violence, but presents us with a multitude of colorful characters. Throughout the season and in parallel with their life in prison, we learn to discover them through many flashbacks that punctuate each episode.
The person to remember : Taylor Schilling, the interpreter of Piper, who succeeds in turn to cause empathy and annoyance. Sometimes touching, sometimes selfish and often just completely lost, Piper is not a predictable character as one might think at the beginning of the series. Far from it, it surprises us episode episode and quickly moves away from the caricature of the young woman in all respects presented at the beginning. Another character to remember: Uzo Aduba, who plays the role of "crazy eyes", a detainee completely barge and falling madly in love with Piper, is to die of laughter!
With: Jason Biggs, Laura Prepon, Kate Mulgrew, Laverne Cox, Natasha Lyonne ...
