Ian Poulter is in a three-way tie for the Scottish Open lead after a battling display on day three at Dundonald Links.

World number 85 Poulter, who is chasing his first win since the 2012 WGC-HSBC Champions, managed to battle through the wet and windy conditions to sign for a one-under-par 71 - a round that included three birdies and two bogeys.

The Englishman is joined at the top of the standings on -9 by compatriot Callum Shinkwin, who shot a level-par 72 to maintain his place at the summit, and Australian Andrew Dodt, who also went round in 71.

England's Andy Sullivan, who came into the Ayrshire tournament on the back of two consecutive top-20 finishes, carded a five-under-par 67 - the best score of the day - to jump 27 places up the leaderboard into fourth on -7.

Sweden's Johan Carlsson, New Zealand's Ryan Fox and Irishman Paul Dunne are in a three-way tie for fifth on -6 whilst American Rickie Fowler is part of a group of nine a further stroke back.

Ireland's Padraig Harrington, who was one of three joint-leaders going into the third round, endured a miserable day as he carded a seven-over-par 79 to slip 22 places down the standings onto -2.
