Foods to stay healthy in winter: focus on vitamins
Nothing like a good vitamin intake to fight against fatigue and winter viruses! Bet especially fruits and vegetables in season, high in vitamins! Oranges, clementines and kiwis will give you a good amount of vitamin C. In case of infection, this vitamin reduces the intensity of symptoms and heals faster!
Normally, respecting the famous recommendation "eat 5 fruits and vegetables a day" will be enough to fill you up with vitamins. It is therefore not worthwhile to take vitamin capsules in supplement, or, if real need, in reasonable quantity: an excess of vitamins is as bad for the health as a deficiency!
Eat starchy foods to get enough energy this winter
In winter, the energy needs of our body increase. Fighting the cold to keep our body temperature stable requires a lot of effort. It is therefore particularly important to treat your energy intake in winter. The main sources of energy in the body are complex carbohydrates, whose starchy foods are particularly rich: rice, wholemeal bread, potatoes, pasta, lentils ... Ideally, complex carbohydrates should represent half of your daily food intake.
Strengthen your immune system this winter with garlic and onion
Garlic and onion have many health benefits, especially if they are eaten raw. By stimulating our immune system, they reduce the risk of viral infections. They can also kill many bacteria, making them allies of weight in the winter.
Note that consumed regularly throughout the year, garlic and onion fight effectively against high blood pressure and excess cholesterol. They also reduce the risk of certain cancers!
