Burnley striker Chris Wood insists he out to silence his doubters after securing a move back to the Premier League.
Burnley snapped up the 25-year-old in a £15million deal from Championship side Leeds last month and he made an immediate impact on his debut.
Wood came off the bench to net a late equaliser against Tottenham at Wembley last time out and he is now pushing for a start against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
The New Zealand international finished last term as the Championship’s top scorer, however he has previously struggled to impose himself at Premier League level with both West Brom and Leicester.
The hitman insists he is keen to silence his doubters this time around and admits he will need fend off plenty of competition to tie down a starting role.
Wood said: "I've got ambitions and I'd like to prove a lot of people wrong - people will always say things, but it's for me to go out and do my best for the club.
"I felt I could have had a role with Leicester and that maybe I wasn't given a chance, but that's football. I took a step back into the Championship, but I knew one day I would be back.
"We have five great strikers here. It is going to come down to my performances and whether I stay in the team or have to fight to get into it.
"It is not going to be an easy road, I am not guaranteed anything and it is going to come down to hard work and making sure I play well."
