Tiger Woods has confirmed he is making progress as he continues to recover from back surgery.

The American has now had four operations on his back in the last three years, but he has not played since February.

He was forced to withdraw from the Dubai Desert Classic due to the injury but he is refusing to give up just yet.

Woods has not won a tournament since 2013 but he insists his game is slowly coming together.

After a number of tough weeks, he has now confirmed he is hitting 60-yard shots and putting every day.

Writing on his website, he said: "I'm feeling good, strong and doing really well. I'm sleeping better because I don't have any nerve pain going down my leg."

"About my most recent surgery, it's nice not to live in pain any more.

"I'm starting to hit the ball a little further - 60-yard shots. I have not taken a full swing since my back fusion surgery last April, but continue to chip and putt every day.

"I have my six-month back X-rays coming up. Once my surgeon takes a look, he'll give me the parameters of what I can do."
