The Jungle Book supports brain research
On the occasion of the 11th edition of Espoir en tĂȘte , a national fundraiser for brain research, the Rotary Club and The Walt Disney Company France have joined forces for the seventh consecutive year, after Mary Poppins and Cinderella. Last year, it was the "Jungle Book" to support cancer research.On April 10, 11 and 12, 2016 , the film Disney, which is scheduled for release on April 13, will be screened in advance. premiere in nearly 470 cinemas across France Objective : Raise funds to support research on the brain.On the 15 euros that costs entry, 8 euros are directly invested in favor of medical research.
Hope in the lead raises funds for medical research
Hope in the Head, a national fundraiser for research on the brain, has raised in an 11-year campaign, nearly 8.7 million euros in donations in support of medical research. According to the Brain and Spinal Cord Institute (ICM), 1 in 3 (or 179 million people) are directly affected by diseases of the nervous system in Europe. At the forefront, neurodegenerative diseases:
- Alzheimer's disease affects 25 million people worldwide.
- Parkinson's disease, where about 8,000 new cases occur each year in France.
- epilepsies (they affect 50 million people worldwide) and stroke (the second leading cause of death in the world).
But also psychiatric and behavioral disorders:
- depression affects 400 million people worldwide, suicide kills 800,000 people a year in the world.
- Schizophrenia affects 7 people out of 1,000 worldwide, which represents 21 million schizophrenics.
- Anxiety disorders affect 61.3 million Europeans , psychotic disorders, 33.3 million people in Europe.
