Tony Pulis has announced Jonny Evans is the new West Brom captain and insists the defender will be going nowhere this summer.
There has been mounting speculation that the Northern Ireland international is a close-season target for several Premier League sides, with Leicester making a £10million bid earlier this summer.
But West Brom have made it clear that they have no intention of selling Evans and to emphasise the point they have now handed the captain's armband to the 29-year-old.
Pulis, speaking ahead of the Asis Trophy pre-season tournament in Hong Kong, revealed: "Jonny will be our captain next season. I’ve spoken to Jonny earlier in pre-season, he had a fantastic year last year and we're hoping he steps up. He's never been given this responsibility before.
"Jonny is staying at West Bromwich Albion football club, there is no doubt about that."
Evans will replace his former Manchester United team-mate Darren Fletcher as the Baggies' club skipper, after Fletcher's free transfer move to Stoke City.
