The Odyssea solidarity race continues to drain the world. The participants are more and more numerous: in 2015, 43,000 people gathered at the Odyssea races and marches circuit (more than 2,500 volunteers who ensured the smooth running of the events) compared to only 1,000 during the first edition in 2002 And who says participation record, said record of donations: from the beginning, it was nearly 5.4 million euros that the Odyssea race has reaped in favor of research against breast cancer.
Odyssea, the heart rally against breast cancer
For its 15 years, this rally of the heart is accessible to all: the Saturday being reserved for the children from 5 to 12 years old and the Sunday to the adults . The little ones have their own race called "I run for mom" which offers 2 circuits : one of 1 kilometer and the other of 2 kilometers. Two routes were also developed for adults: one of 5 kilometers and the other of 10 kilometers for the most sporting.
And what is also the strength of the Odyssea solidarity race against breast cancer is its passage in several cities in France. She spent March 20, 2016 in Nantes, April 17, 2016 in Bayonne, May 21, 2016 in Chambéry and June 4, 2016 in Dijon before landing in September:
- September 11, 2016 in Brest,
- September 18th, in Toulouse,
- 1 and 2 October 2016 in Paris ,
- October 20, 2016 in Auxerre ,
- and on 5 and 6 November 2016 in Reunion.
Avoid breast cancer while playing sports
What if doing regular sports protected us against breast cancer? It is known that part of breast cancer is preventable (about 30%). And among the protective factors, we find the physical activity . In addition, researchers have also shown that moving daily (no need to engage in sports at the competition level) significantly reduced the risk of recurrence of breast cancer. Finally, during illness, physical activity (to be defined with your doctor) can reduce fatigue.
Another, more encouraging, data: in the past 20 years, mortality from breast cancer has been declining in France and the number of women suffering from it has also dropped. In 2012, there were an estimated 48,763 new cases of breast cancer, down 8% from 2011.
