Full-back Jordan Rankin has put pen to paper on a new three-year contract with Huddersfield Giants.

The Australian only joined the Giants on a short-term deal from NRL outfit Wests Tigers earlier this year and has gone on to make seven appearances for Rick Stone's side.

The 25-year-old has certainly impressed during his short time at the John Smith's Stadium and it has now been confirmed that he has signed a contract extension after the necessary visa paperwork was completed.

Rankin, who has previously played in the Super League with Hull FC, admits it was an easy decision to commit to Huddersfield, as he wanted to repay the faith shown in him by everyone connected to the club.

"I’m very happy to have signed a new three year deal with the Giants," Rankin told the club's official website. "Rick Stone, the Coaches and all the Playing Staff have been fantastic from the day I arrived here and I want to be able to repay them for that."

Giants coach Stone was also delighted to see Rankin sign a new deal, as he believes the back's versatility has helped him make a major impact on the team.

"Jordan’s made a really good impact on the pitch since he’s been here," Stone said. He’s got the flexibility of playing in a few positions and has been playing full-back for us so far."

Rankin's first match since committing his future to Huddersfield is likely to come when the Giants play host to Castleford Tigers in the Super 8s on Friday.
