Tottenham are ready to drop all interest in Everton's Ross Barkley and turn their attention to Borussia Dortmund's Christian Pulisic.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a move for Barkley but reports claim they are unwilling meet Everton’s £50million valuation and the player’s wage demands, reported to be £150,000 per week.

That would put him above star striker Harry Kane and Spurs will not go that high for a player who struggled for form at times last season and is out of the first-team picture with Gareth Southgate’s England.

Barkley has turned down all offers from Everton but could be left in limbo, with reports now claiming that Mauricio Pochettino has turned his attentions to BVB’s Pulisic instead.

The 18-year-old attacking midfielder caught the eye in the Bundesliga last season when firing home five goals in 41 appearances and Pochettino is a big admirer of the American.

It is also thought, unlike Barkley, Pulisic would not expect to go straight into the Tottenham side next season and would be willing to battle for his place.

Luring Pulisic away could still prove tricky as he is under contract with Dortmund until 2020, with the Germans under no pressure to sell.
